"His first day of College"
This was yesterday....he got up early...got ready, but couldn't eat breakfast. He hadn't been nervous until the night before. He's not a worrier or a nervous kid. This was out-of-character for him, but come on...it's college!
He had three classes yesterday. He met new friends (because he doesn't know a stranger and never has! We are still working on this! LOL) and he was able to spend some time with his old friends. He was the only one to answer some questions in a class and the teacher told the class that she really liked the way Garhett made eye contact with her and was respectful in his words, as well. One professor asked him if he had military training. He said, "No Ma'am." She said her son had just come back from Iraq and Garhett sounded a lot like him! He told him he had been raised well.
Today, he said he wanted to thank me for the last 16 years of training I have given him. Around here, the training is referred to as "Mama's Boot Camp".
The others and I are getting use to him being gone more. Mitchell had a rough day yesterday, the thought of his best friend gone, but today he did much better.
Mitchell, with the corn from our garden...
Seth wanted in on the action too!!
Garhett and Mitchell getting ready to go camping!
We were all planning on going on "one last camp-out of the year". But...my great uncle died and I needed to be at the memorial. The neat thing was, the boys camped about 45 minutes away from the service and met us at it. It was nice having the whole family there for it. My great-uncle was 20 days shy of 96 years old. His wife, who is my late grandfather's sister, is who our little girl Ellie is named after. She was glad to see us.
The girls and I had a fun time doing girl stuff this last weekend. Boy, the house was certainly quiet without the five males who live here!
Tori Hannah enjoying the swing...
The girls and I went for a drive and a walk. We went up to a place that we dream of buying...some day, the Lord willing!!
Ellie (Elizabeth) Anne, playing hide-and-seek...
At the home we dream of!
The Clan...
Nathan, without his stitches! He looks better than I thought he would. The scar on the left side was the worst bite. I feared it would be terrible, but he's looking great! God is good!!
Well, that's it for now! We are back into the routine of school, college, canning, canning, oh drying and did I mention canning? 'Til next time!
Mmm. May God make him a light to shine in darkness...
ReplyDeletePass on the prayers! (from a "friend" he doesn't know yet. ;))
