Snow, Hail and School
It snowed again last night. Early this morning it started raining, then hailing! Right now it's very cold outside and warm inside! The kids are finishing up bits and pieces of school work. Yesterday was "lessons" day. Garhett has an Anatomy and Physiology class and piano lessons, Mitchell has piano lessons and Tori has violin lessons. It is a lot of running around in the mornings and early afternoon, but it's a nice change to the "daily grind". Yesterday, we decided we would leave a little bit early, because of the snow that had accumulated through the night. Everyone was in their seats, buckled, ready to hit the road! I turned the key...nothing....I turned it again....nothing. I sat there as my teenager looked at me as if to say, "What is going on mom? I have class!!" But....instead of saying what he was thinking he calmly said, "Mom, what are we going to do?" Since my husband works in a different town and he was in charge of a HUGE meeting at the time, I couldn't call him. I had just talked to my brother on the phone and he was in town because he had to go to a doctor's appointment. We prayed and I called him. He said he'd be right over. The time was ticking away.....everyone was calm. No one complained....I knew we would get Garhett to his class. I am the type of person who is usually early to things...so the Lord was seeing what my character was going to do. My children were also watching me......praise the Lord...I never got upset...I stayed calm and I really felt that inside. My brother came, jumped our battery and we were off. We were late to a class and a couple of lessons....but we got there. People understood and realized it couldn't be helped. Now, the older I get, the more patient I am becoming. Mind you...this wasn't always the way I was. I was a very impatient...on the go....get going...hurry up!! type of person. Notice I said,"I use to be". It is still a struggle from time to time, but God has really changed the "old" me. I am working on it...especially when I see my "old" self in some of my children. We all have things to work on! Remember...."He's still working on me, to make me what I oughta be!" I am so thankful that God is merciful and never gives up on us! Praise the Lord for that!!
