What...No Power?!!

Friday was a very "odd" day! It started at 5:00am. The alarm rang as usual, but when I went to turn it off...it just kept buzzing! I looked over at the clock and it wasn't on! Then I realized just how cold it was! I rolled over and told Rhett that our power was out! He kinda moaned and groaned and couldn't quite wake up. Well, we went and checked the breakers and the entire house, downstairs and up was out of power! You know I have often said to myself," I could live without power. I really think I could do it!" Okay...do you all see a pattern here? Wednesday my Suburban wouldn't start....Friday I have no power. Hmmmm..I think the Lord was wanting me to ponder a few things. Patience, perseverance, etc. So, luckily my cell phone was charged and I called the PUD. The man on the phone asked how my alarm went off...I told him I had it backed up with batteries! (That was a smart thing to do, eh?) Rhett took a cold shower and was going down the stairs, to head to work, when a HUGE PUD truck came. The noise of the trucks and men talking woke the kids. Oh, they thought it was wonderful! The problem was in the box outside. It took them awhile to fix it, but when they did, Tori let everyone know! She was outside on the deck, in the dark and when the lights came on, she shouted,"THE LIGHTS ARE ON!" I think it woke up the men outside and our neighbors! I heard them chuckling and then they started talking with her. It probably made it worth it, because we probably got them up and going that morning earlier than usual! It was so cute....
The rest of the day was very unpredictable...things happened, but one other mishap was Mitchell. He was taking our dog Toby for a walk in the orchard. I was trying to finish cooking dinner and lunch for Sabbath, when Seth came running inside!! "Mama, Mama!! Mitchell is stuck in a hole!" Sure enough, Mitch had been running and with all of the snow, he hadn't seen an irrigation hole and his foot and ankle were stuck! Well...to make a long story short..he isn't there anymore, but it took some doing to get him out! Oh...I guess a day in the life of a Parent! HA!
Today was a gorgeous day! The sun was shinning and it actually got warm here in the house! It was so beautiful we opened up the doors and the kids played on their scooters and ran in all of the mud puddles! Also, it was/is my birthday! It was a great day! The kids and Rhett made it very special. I received many phone calls and emails from friends and family. I felt very appreciated and loved! Yesterday, we went to Seattle to just "get away" and do something different. We had so much fun! We were so surprised at the snow level on the passes! It was very low, but it was raining very hard!
Well, I better get some things done before I go to bed. Tomorrow is another beginning of a new school week. What a blessing to have a day off on my birthday, thanks to Martin Luther King! What a heroic man. I am thankful for great men like him!
God bless you all!
