Hold Your Tongue

In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise. Proverbs 10:19
My beloved bretheren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. James 1:19
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Proverbs 16:32
We all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:2
By your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:37
Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. Psalm 141:3

Can you see how our mouths can cause us great sin? Before we even think things through, things come flying out of our mouths that we regret. This has been a struggle for me since childhood, in the "heat of the moment." As I have gotten older, this struggle seems to be "disappearing". It has been a long time since this has been a struggle in my life, but I have dear little children who are similar to my character who are battling this same issue. I can spot it fast and deal with it quickly......they can't understand how I "always know"! I keep telling them that it takes one to know one! May we keep careful watch on our minds and our mouths!! Soon and very soon we are to be standing before the throne of God...I want to be washed clean now and ask for forgiveness, because guess what? He has already won the battle and He is just waiting for us to come to Him! We all have our problems and vice's. We are human, but we can claim the Victory through the One who has paid it all!
God bless you on this glorious spring day!
