Yesterday, we spent all morning in the garden and all afternoon getting the school room cleaned out and organized. The children and I are so excited to get back on to a new schedule. Not all of our books have arrived yet (that's a little frustrating), but we are going to start on Monday. Garhett, doesn't start college until the middle of September, but I told him that I have plenty of things for him to keep himself busy. He told me he figured that I did! That boy knows me so well!!
Yesterday, Garhett went up to the fair, with my brother Eric, to enter some things. He took a loaf of my home made bread. I wanted to make just a white/wheat loaf, because they come out HUGE! I didn't have time, though, so he took a loaf that I put wheat, soft wheat, rye and spelt. It's funny because he called me and said my loaf was the biggest. So, we will see! Last year I won grand-champion. It was strange, though. My brother was watching the judging and the judge cut my bread and examined it, sniffed it, took bites out of it. He knew it was fresh ground! I don't know how, but he did! Anyway, it's kinda fun and the kids get soooo excited! We also entered our zucchini, tomatoes, plums, blackberries and canned applesauce, pears and pickles. It's such a simple way to be a part of our community, plus see that people do still appreciate, what we would call, "the finer things in life!" You know, the home made, made by our hands with the things the Lord blesses us with! We consider that the "finer things in life!"
Well, off to another HOT day. I haven't been able to take the kids swimming, because Mitchell had a terrible reaction all over his skin. I took him to the doctor and he had a big name for it. Basically, he got a little sunburned at the ocean, which in turn, caused him to break out in impentago on his left cheek (on his face!) and shoulder (it's always in the same place), which caused his immune system to fight even harder, which caused this severe skin rash all over. It's like raised circles all over, it almost looked like ring worm. He is not contagious, just miserable. I was somewhat concerned and took him in, because I wanted it on his charts, but also my whole family and Rhett's family were coming over to celebrate the twins' birthday and I didn't want anyone to get something. No one was worried, they all said they were coming anyway!
Well, have a great day and don't wish the Summer away just yet! These last couple of days I want to savor! God bless!
